A singer and actress to WME, a mega star leaves CAA, and comedians are joining UTA! Welcome to Friday and Notes from the Rep Biz! At WME: Singer and actress Naturi Naughton has signed with Brad Slater. Naughton is best known for her role on Mad Men, and in Notorious and the remake of Fame. She was also a member of the pop trio 3LW. Currently, she can be seen on the Starz series Power. She remains managed by Angie Edgar, Jason Barrett and Allan Grifka at Alchemy Entertainment. Singer/songwriter CJ Solar has signed with music agents Mark Roeder and Barry Jeffrey. Solars latest single American Girls has been climbing the charts all summer; he also co-wrote Morgan Wallens hit single Up Down. At CAA: Writer/producer/director/novelist Jonathan Tropper has signed with Joe Cohen. Tropper is the co-creator of Cinemaxs Banshee, which ran for four seasons; his next series, Warrior, is set to debut in 2019, also on Cinemax. In 2014, he adapted his novel This is Where I leave You into a feature film starring Tina Fey and Jason Bateman. He continues to be managed by Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment. Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence has left CAA. Lawrences most recent films were mother! and Red Sparrow; next up shell be seen in the latest X-Men film, Dark Phoenix, and is attached to star in Bad Blood. She remains managed by Rick Yorn at LBI Entertainment. At UTA: Justina Machado has signed with UTA. Machado won a SAG Award for her work on HBOs Six Feet Under, and has also had a recurring role on Jane the Virgin. Currently, she can be seen on Netflixs One Day at a Time. She continues to be repped by manager Danielle Del at D2 Management. Actor and comedian Kevin James has signed with Jason Heyman and Martin Lesak. In April, James stand up special Never Dont Give Up was released on Netflix. Hell continue to be agented by Stacy Mark at WME for personal appearances. His manager is Jeff Sussman at Sussman Management. Stand-up comedian Russell Peters has signed with Jo Yao. Peters broke out in 2004 on the Canadian series Comedy Now! Since then hes sold out shows all over the country and is currently in the midst of his Deported world tour. He was also one of the first comedians to do a Netflix comedy special, in 2013.
