A Star Wars star to WME, Hollywood royalty with new management, and CAA cuts ties with a controversial news figure. Welcome to Friday and Notes from the Rep Biz! At WME: Oscar Isaac, who suggested recently that he was in need of a break from his demanding shooting schedule, decided to go ahead and break up with UTA. The in-demand actor is now with Brent Morley. He continues to be repped by longtime manager Jason Spire. Comedy writer Hallie Cantor is a new sign for Allysa Bauer. Cantor is also coming over from UTA. At CAA: The biggest news out of CAA this past week is that it has parted ways with embattled news anchor and host Megyn Kelly. The word on the street is that this was done before her recent controversial remarks about blackface, which may have scuttled her chances of landing anywhere else. Per the Hollywood Reporter, she has also hired litigator Bryan Freedman, likely to represent her going forward with NBC. At UTA: A passel of promotions occurred this past week at UTA, with nine being promoted to agent within the company. Those include: Jed Baker, Milorad Dragicevic, Jonathan Beckerman, Houston Costa, Addison Duffy, J.B. Fitzgerald, Anna Flickinger, Jacob Luftglass and Jamie Kaye-Phillips. At APA: Production-management company Black Women Animate, which seeks to foster the careers of female and nonbinary animators of color, is a new sign for APA. At Verve: Israeli horror directors (and brothers) Yoav and Doron Paz have signed with a team that includes David Boxerbaum and Nicky Mohebbi. They are managed by Eric Williams at Zero Gravity. Management Notes: Dakota Johnson, one of Hollywoods most intriguing stars on the rise (and third generation actress), has signed with manager Aleen Keshishian at Lighthouse. Keshishian has been instrumental in the careers of actresses like Natalie Portman, Gwenyth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston, so this may be a great fit. Johnson remains with WME on the agency side. There are four new managers at Brillstein Entertainment Partners, including outside hires Andy Farag and Isabel Frost (from CAA and Primary Wave, respectively) and internal promotions Natalie Covault and Jackie Gardner.
