In a move that should surprise no one Mission: Impossible Fallout took number one at the box office this past weekend taking in $35 million. The film only had a 42% drop, which is pretty good, indicating that the film has very strong legs. Domestically Fallout has made $124 million, while internationally it has taken in $205 million. Expect this film to hang around as we near the end of the summer. Coming in second place with a lower than expected haul of $25 million was Disneys Christopher Robin. Its not a great start for the film, but considering there arent that many new family films opening in the next couple weeks it could pull out ahead. WME reps director Marc Forster, while UTA reps star Ewan McGregor, and CAA reps co-star Hayley Atwell. In third place with $12 million was the action comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me. The film came in just below studio expectations, but considering it only cost $35 million, it should end up doing okay. UTA shouldnt be too upset about this result as they rep director and co-writer Susanna Fogel and co-star Kate McKinnon. Mila Kunis is repped by CAA. Dropping down to fourth place with $9.1 million was the musical sequel Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again. The film has now taken in $91 million domestically and $139.2 million overseas for a worldwide cume of $230 million. Dropping to fifth place was The Equalizer 2 with $8.8 million. The film has now made $80 million domestically. Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation fell out of the top five this week and into sixth place. Marvels Ant-Man and the Wasp fell to seventh place, while the YA dystopia The Darkest Minds opened in eighth (ouch). Disney/Pixars Incredibles 2 fell to ninth and Teen Titans Go! To the Movies dropped all the way to tenth. And a fact that I continue to brag about to my friends Black Panther topped $700 million domestically, making it the third film to ever do so, just behind Avatar and The Force Awakens. Id like to take my final bow for calling this back in October of last year. Next Week: Jason Statham punches a giant shark in The Meg, Ken Marino directs an ensemble comedy about dog lovers with Dog Days, and Spike Lees BlacKkKlansman opens. 1.
